Nutrient Product Amount Recommended for ADD Children
1.  Omega-3 Fatty Acids Neuromins docosahexaenoic acid(DHA) OR item 2 below. 400 mg daily in two divided doses (2x200 mg capsules)
2.  Omega-3 Fatty Acids One of the following OR item 1 above.  
  Efalex Focus (contains fish and primrose oil). Renamed Nutricia Efalex (available in GNC and RiteAID stores)
OR
Focus - 8 capsules daily, divided in two doses
  A newer product is Nature’s Way Attention Focus for Children
OR
6 capsules per day, 4 in AM, 3 in PM
  NOW Foods or Carlson Lemon Fish Oil
OR
½ tsp twice a day
  “Coromega” is available in individual serving packets from ERBL One packet twice a day
3.  Omega-6 Fatty Acids
(ADD THIS ONLY FOR ALLERGIES)
Evening Primrose Oil  or borage or black current- capsules delivering 200 mg GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid)daily. 2 to 3 capsules daily with a meal
A 2:1 ratio of GLA to DHA works well!
4.  Vitamin C and Cofactors Vitamin C AND grape seed extract (Masquelier's or Berkem's Authentic Gold) or Pycnogenol Vitamin C 500 mg daily (may be split into smaller doses, 2-3 times daily)
AND
grape seed extract 50 mg
OR
Pycnogenol 1 mg per pound of body weight, taken twice per day
5.  B Vitamins Look for a capsule with these ingredient quantities:
B1 (thiamine): 25 mg
B2 (riboflavin): 30 mg
B1 (thiamine): 25 mg
B2 (riboflavin): 30 mg
B3 (niacinamide): 50 mg
B6 (pyridoxine): 50 mg
B5 (pantothenic acid): 25 to 75 mg
B12 (cobalamin): 50 mcg
Folic acid: 200 mcg
Biotin: 50 to 75 mcg
One capsule daily with breakfast. Take with food, otherwise you might get an upset stomach!
6.  Antioxidants Antioxidant formulas with vitamins A, C, E, and beta carotene, may be in a good quality multi-vitamin, which will include vitamin D. Look for natural beta carotene, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin totaling 2500 IU daily.
7.  Minerals Albion chelates of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, selenium, chromium, and potassium. Before supplementing, check your other supplements: they might contain selenium, copper, zinc, etc.  Be sure not to double up on your dosage - too much is toxic! Albion Laboratories. Minerals can be found in chewable product called “Focus Child” by Source Naturals (Contains Zinc and Magnesium, both very important) Calcium amino acid chelate: 250 mg per day
Magnesium amino acid chelate 250 mg per day for 30 days, then 150 mg.
Zinc amino acid chelate 10 mg for 30 days, then 5 mg per day.
Iron amino acid chelate 10 mg per day
Potassium amino acid chelate 99 mg each twice per day (one in AM, one in PM)
Copper amino acid chelates: do not supplement w/o hair analysis
Manganese amino acid chelate: 5 mg per day
Chromium amino acid chelate: 100 mcg per day (usually in B-Stress Formulas, if so don’t add extra).
Selenium (L-selenomethionine): 50 mcg per day (usually added in antioxidant formulas, if so don’t add extra).
